Complainant beaten up in Comilla court, two accused arrested

Comilla Correspondent. The accused beat up and injured the plaintiff of the case, Suman Mia, in the Comilla court premises. The incident took place around 10:30 am on Sunday. The injured Suman Mia is a resident of Srimaddi area of ​​Homna upazila. In this incident, the locals arrested the two accused and handed them over to the police. The arrested are Matin Mia (48) and Saddam Hossain (29) of the same area. It is learned that the accused has been in a long-standing conflict with Suman Mia over a land dispute. Yasmin Ara, the elder sister of the injured Suman, said that on January 15, Suman filed a case against his opponent Matin Mia, Saddam Hossain’s father Khalek Mia and 20 others in connection with the clash over this dispute. As a result, on February 15, the accused again beat up Sumon’s father Daulat Mia. After this incident, both parties filed a complaint with the police station. On Sunday, when Sumon came to the court to seek legal advice regarding the case, the accused met face to face. At that time, they severely beat Sumon. At one stage of the beating, Sumon became unconscious. The people present rescued him and took him to Comilla Medical College Hospital and arrested the accused and handed them over to the police. Comilla Kotwali Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Salah Uddin said that Matin and Saddam, who were detained by the public in the court, have been taken to the police station. The injured Sumon is being treated. Gazi Ariful Islam Vilia, Assistant Registrar of the Casualty Department of Comilla Medical College Hospital, said that Sumon’s condition is critical and he has been referred to the ICU. Meanwhile, Comilla Court Inspector Md. Shahidullah said, “In this incident too, the victim can file a new case if he wants. Those who beat Sumon have been detained by the public and handed over to the police.”
