SI (Retd) Md. Nahid Hasan of Bangara Bazar Police Station in Muradnagar Upazila of Comilla District, along with the force, while on emergency duty in the police station area, on December 29 at 10:30 am, 145 bags of Indian sugar and 2 pickup vehicles were arrested from the paved road from Sanchail to Bangara Bazar in front of the cow farm of Mizanur Rahman Sarkar of Nabiabad Sakin in Ward No. 8 of Purba Dhair (West) Union under Bangara Bazar Police Station. The arrested accused are Md. Roni (22), son of Md. Sohel Mia of Kuti Jajiara (Hasenar Bari) of Kasba Upazila of Brahmanbaria District (driver of Dhaka Metro No. 12-0601 pickup) and Md. Roni (22), son of the deceased Nurul Islam of Ramchandrapur (Ballak) of Brahmanpara Upazila, Comilla (number plate Driver of the pickup truck (Md. Salahuddin)
(47). An estimated 145 bags of Indian sugar weighing 7105 kg and 2 pickup vehicles were recovered from their custody in front of witnesses and seized at the said spot after preparing a seizure list and as per the rules. Bangra Bazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahfuzur Rahman said that a case was registered against them under the Special Powers Act of 1974.
