Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the revival of the film industry in the country. Combined Film Council thanked Hasan Mahmood and Govt.

Film Artists Association President Elias Kanchan, Directors Association President Kazi Hayat, Secretary General Shaheen Suman, Cultural Secretary Shaheen Kabir Tutul, Film Buyers Association President Abdul Latif Bachchu, Film Exhibitors Association Advisor Sudipta Kumar Das, Member Yunus Rubel, Joint Film Council were present in the meeting room of the Ministry on Thursday afternoon. Member Secretary Shah Alam Kiran, Editors Guild President Abu Musa Debu, actress Apu Biswas, producer Apoorva Rana etc. extended their greetings and sincere thanks to the Information Minister in view of the recent upheaval in the film industry. Information and Broadcasting Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir Khondkar was present at this time.

Film Council leaders said in their speech, ‘Eight films released on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and five films released during Eid-ul-Azha have created a response among the audience across the country. Many closed cinemas have opened. Govt has given easy loan fund of Rs 1000 crore for construction and renovation of cinema halls, giving subsidy to commercial cinemas. All this is the result of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s directives and Information Minister Hashan Mahmud’s tireless efforts. We thank the minister and the government for this.

Kazi Hayat called the information minister a ‘friend of films’. Sudipta Das pledged continued efforts to build cinema halls across the country with easy loans. Ilyas Kanchan called for good content production and Shaheen Suman called for increase in grants for commercial films. Abu Musa Debu requested to have cinema halls in information complexes.

Information Minister Hasan Mahmood welcomed the representatives of Film Parishad and said, ‘Appreciation of good work gives inspiration. In our country, good work is not appreciated, if there is a mistake, it is discussed.” He was very happy to hear. Prime Minister is the big heart of the film.

Not only the cooperation of the government has worked behind this turnaround of the film industry, but the concerted efforts of everyone in the film industry and staying with this industry despite various adversities, holding the industry, making movies and not closing the hall even with losses have definitely worked, said the Broadcasting Minister. He said, our directors, artists-artists are world class, they have been awarded in many international festivals. Our aim is to take the country’s film industry to the global stage.
