Collection of fines in mobile court while driving dredger machine to protect agricultural land in Barura

A fine has been collected in the mobile court while the dredger machine is running to protect the agricultural land in Comilla’s Barura. On Wednesday 22 March mobile courts were conducted in different unions of Barura upazila to protect agricultural land. Among them, a fine of 50,000/- was imposed on the dredger owner in a case in Chitda Union. Local UP chairman and civil society leaders were present on the occasion. On this day, Barura Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate managed the mobile court. Mehdi Hasan, and allied forces. He said that using dredges and bulldozers to extract soil and extracting soil from cultivated agricultural land is a punishable offense under the Balumhal and Soil Management Act, 2010. In any area of the upazila, illegal cutting and extraction of soil with dredgers and beku will be brought under the law through the mobile court. Mobile court will continue in Barura upazila in public interest.
