The Chief Advisor to the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has expressed deep shock over the death of the child who was tortured in Magura.
The Chief Advisor’s Deputy Press Secretary, Apurba Jahangir, said that the Chief Advisor has ordered that the accused involved in the torture incident be brought to justice quickly.
The child breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital at 1 pm on Thursday (March 13).
The child was raped last Thursday (March 6) while visiting her sister’s house in Magura town. The next day, she was admitted to the Magura 250-bed hospital. When her condition deteriorated there, she was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment that afternoon. From there, she was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at night.
She was then put on life support on Friday night. The critically ill child was transferred from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital to the Combined Military Hospital last Saturday evening. The child was taken to the pediatric ICU at CMH the next day, Sunday. The child died while undergoing treatment today, March 13.
