CCC and Bahan sign MoU to establish underground optical fiber network

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and Bahan Limited for the purpose of establishing an underground optical fiber network. Bahan Limited, licensed by NTTN (National Telecom Transmission Network) by BTRC, has taken this initiative to ensure high-speed internet connectivity and other smart technology facilities in Chittagong metropolis and to enhance the beauty of the city.

Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation Dr. Shahadat Hossain was present as the chief guest at the MoU signing ceremony held at the conference room of CHC office on Thursday (March 20). On behalf of Chittagong City Corporation, Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam, and on behalf of Bahan Limited, Chief Operating Officer Rashed Amin Bidyut signed the MoU.

Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said at the event, underground cabling is very important to transform Chittagong city into a smart city. Through this agreement with Bahan Limited, we want to build a planned optical fiber network by freeing the city from the unmanaged and hanging cable clutter. This will not only enhance the beauty, but also provide the citizens with the convenience of uninterrupted and high-speed internet access. In order to form a smart city, we want to ensure environmentally friendly infrastructure along with technological development. This is a big step in the modernization of Chittagong city.

Senior officials of CCC and Bahan Limited, and Dr. Sarwar Alam were also present at the event. Through this agreement, in addition to bringing sustainable changes to the infrastructure of Chittagong city, initiatives have been taken to develop an advanced urban management based on information technology.
