Md. Nur Islam Noyon:

The construction of the RCC cutter bridge in Birol Upazila of Dinajpur has been stalled for a long time due to equipment shortage. It has been seen on the spot that although the construction work of the beginning and the end part of the bridge has been completed, the work of the middle part has been stopped. The length of the bridge under construction is 250 meters and it will connect Ghughudanga Mantripara of Auliapur Union No. 6 of Dinajpur Sadar Upazila to Buzuruk Basantapur area of Palashbari Union No. 11 of Birol Upazila. The work of this project under construction with a budget of Tk 27 crore 68 lakh 83 thousand 267 started in 2019. It is being managed by Dinajpur LGED and the construction work is being carried out by Tama Construction and Co. Ltd.

According to project sources, the work is not being completed as the special material PC strand (12T13 wire) used in the construction of the bridge is not available in the domestic market. When asked about the reason for not completing the work, contractor Md. Ishaq Ali said that the completion of the bridge work is being delayed due to the non-availability of the desired PC strand (12T13 wire) from various importers in the domestic market.

In this regard, LGED Dinajpur Executive Engineer Md. Masudur Rahman said that the government’s development work is being hampered due to the non-availability of PC strand (12T13 wire). We are trying to find a solution quickly and complete the work of the bridge.

If the bridge is commissioned, the communication system from Dinajpur Sadar to Buzuruk Basantapur in Birol Upazila will be easy. This will increase the transportation of agricultural products and economic activities.

Local resident Kamrul Islam said, this bridge is very important for our area. We are facing many problems in our transportation due to the suspension of construction work. Crossing by boat takes both time and money. Local residents have urged the authorities concerned to quickly complete the bridge work by overcoming the shortage of equipment to complete the work quickly.
