The construction of a bridge at the cost of Tk 1.6 million was completed on the canal near Rajapur Upazila Sadar market in Jhalkathi about 8 months ago. Even though the construction work is completed, this important bridge is not of any benefit to the general public. On the contrary, the suffering of people is constantly increasing. Because the connection road (approach road) on both sides of the bridge has not been constructed, the bridge has become unusable. Every day, thousands of people are facing extreme suffering. As a result, even after the construction of the bridge, the suffering of thousands of people did not decrease. Where after the construction of the bridge, the sufferings of the people were supposed to be removed, on the contrary, the sufferings increased. Many times children are suffering from minor accidents while crossing the bridge by stairs. Elderly people are not able to climb the bridge without someone’s help. Every day, thousands of people have to buy daily necessities from the market due to the lack of traffic from the bridge. Apart from this, on both sides of the bridge there are various government and private offices including educational institutes, several traders, buyers and pedestrians of the market expressed their anger and said that even though the bridge was built at a cost of around two and a quarter million taka, the pedestrians are not getting the benefits. have to come It wastes both time and money. There are steep paved roads on both sides of the canal but as there is no connecting road, the buyers cannot take the market home by rickshaw or van. This bridge was built by demolishing the old bridge. The locals have been suffering for almost two years since the construction of the bridge. The aggrieved pedestrians have demanded from the concerned authorities to construct the connecting road as soon as possible.

Rajapur Upazila LGED Engineer Abhijit Majumder said, A proposal has been sent for revision as Varadh’s money has been spent on the construction of the bridge. That is why it took time to construct the link road (approach road). The link road will be constructed in next 15 to 20 days.
