A freight (container) train derailed in Brahmanbaria on Thursday around 1:15 am. In this, train movement through Chittagong and Sylhet along with Dhaka bound railways is stopped. It is believed that the accident may have happened on the railway line during excessive heat. However, there was no statement from anyone related to this matter According to Brahmanbaria railway station sources, the freight train leaving from Chittagong crossed Brahmanbaria railway station at quarter past 1 on Thursday. After crossing the Gokarna area of the district town and reachibng Dariyapur area of Sadar upazila, seven coaches of the train derailed. Along with Chittagong and Sylhet, train movement was stopped on this railway towards Dhaka. However, train movement is normal through the railways towards Chittagong and Sylhet along with Dhaka. Acting master of Brahmanbaria railway station, Rafiqul Islam, said that seven carriages of the Dhaka-bound freight train from Chittagong derailed in Daryapur area. The rescue train from Akhaura has been alerted.
