The BRAC Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Wash Program was held on Tuesday, February 18, around noon, in the hall room of the complex’s expanded administrative building, under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman in Galachipa, Patuakhali.
The program discussed various issues including safe water systems in government-registered schools at the upazila level, proper use and maintenance of WASH facilities, and formation of good habits among students.
Officials at the BRAC WASH Program event said that the project started rolling out across Bangladesh in 2014. As a continuation of this, BRAC WASH Program will be implemented in Patuakhali district from 2023.
A total of 23 madrasas and secondary schools in Galachipa Upazila are preparing to adopt water sanitation and hygiene wash programs from 2023 to 2024 and 9 more in 2025, said Md. Sultan Uddin, the special guest of the event, Patuakhali District Manager (BRAC) WASH Program.
The chief guest was Galachipa, Galachipa Upazila Public Health Engineer Abdur Rahman, the special guest was Abusaid Mohammad Abu Kalam, the academy supervisor of the secondary school, Md. Jasim Uddin, the president of the Galachipa Television Journalist Forum, Md. Zillur Rahman Jewel, the senior journalist, Md. Zillur Rahman Jewel, the superintendent of N,Z Alim Madrasa, Abdul Hai, the organizing secretary of the Television Journalist Forum Club, Shishir Ranjan Howlader, and the presiding imam of the Galachipa Central Jama Masjid, Maulana Mohammad Tauhid.
At one stage of the program, Executive Officer Mizanur Rahman said, cleanliness is a part of faith. Therefore, the discussion of the BRAC Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Wash Program program is not over, keeping the infrastructure clean, students of our schools and madrasas have a very important role to play, only if we are aware of the use of wash rooms and water can we protect ourselves from various diseases. Later, he expressed his sincere thanks to the officials of the BRAC Water Sanitation and Hygiene Program.
