Saturday, March 8, 2025. A seventh grade school student was murdered in Gabtoli, Bogra. Local people recovered his body from the pond next to his house at night.
It is reported that Sifat (13), the younger son of Habizar Rahman Molla of Unchurki Uttarpara village in Ward No. 9 of Gabtoli Municipality, left his house after iftar at the local mosque. Then at 9 pm, local people saw Sifat lying on the pond adjacent to the Unchurki Uttarpara Eidgah ground and shouted. People rushed to rescue him and brought him to the Gabtoli Upazila Government Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Sifat dead. The doctor on duty also said that Sifat was strangled to death, there were finger marks on her neck.
Sifat’s mother Ruli Begum said that Sifat was fasting, and she went out again after coming home for Iftar at the mosque. Her body was found at 9 pm. Sifat’s body was lying near the house of a hijra named Imran Hossain Haru, and Sifat’s mother Ruli Begum suspects that he killed her. Sifat was studying in the 7th grade of the local Pilot High School.
Gabtoli Model Police Station OC Ashiq Iqbal said that the police are taking Sifat’s death seriously and are continuing the operation to unravel the mystery of her death. Sifat’s body was in the hospital till the time of writing this report at night.
