BNP leader Fakhrul and Khasru ordered to be interrogated at jail gate

The court ordered BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and party’s Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury to be interrogated for two days in jail in the case filed at Paltan police station on the charge of sabotage.

On Monday (December 18), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury gave this order after the hearing. On this day, they were produced in the court from Keraniganj Central Jail. Then the court granted the application to show their arrest.

Earlier, they were requested to be remanded for 10 days. Meanwhile, their lawyer applied for bail to cancel the remand. After hearing both sides, the court denied remand and bail and ordered two days of interrogation in jail.

On December 14, Sumit Kumar Saha, investigating officer of the case and Sub-Inspector of Paltan Model Police Station, applied for their remand. Monday was fixed for the hearing of this matter.

According to the police application, Ejaharnamiya and their co-accused in connivance with each other to create a riot in the illegal crowd, armed with bamboo sticks, attacked the police, used force and detonated cocktails, causing serious injuries and causing panic among the public, causing damage to persons and property. The mentioned accused are central leaders of BNP. On the day of the incident, they openly directed the leaders and activists of BNP and its organizations to create an atmosphere of sabotage and anarchy. In view of which the accused and absconding convicts attacked policemen with indigenous weapons and exploded cocktails in front of Paltan Model Police Station, seriously injuring the policemen.

It has also been said that for the sake of proper investigation of this case, the two accused (Mirza Fakhrul and Amir Khosru) should be arrested and interrogated in police custody for 10 days to reveal the mystery, arrest the fugitive accused, identify and arrest the cocktail throwers and conduct the operation.

Meanwhile, the High Court has set December 17 as the date for hearing the ruling issued to find out why Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will not be granted bail in the case filed by the police regarding the attack on the residence of the Chief Justice. Earlier on October 29, Mirza Fakhrul was produced in the court after being arrested in this case. After that, the investigating officer of the case requested to keep him in jail in this case. On the other hand, the accused applied for bail. After the hearing of both parties, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin’s court denied bail and ordered Fakhrul to be sent to jail. Then on November 2, lawyer Syed Zainul Abedin Mejbah applied for his bail.

After the application, the court fixed November 20 for the bail hearing. On that day, the state side applied for postponing the bail hearing. After that, the court postponed the bail hearing and fixed November 22. After the hearing that day, the judge denied Fakhrul bail. Then on December 5, both the courts applied for his bail. In another case, BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) from his home in Gulshan at around 1:15 am on November 2. Amir Khosru was produced in the court on November 3 after arresting the party’s leaders and activists with the police around the BNP’s mass meeting on October 28. After that, for the sake of investigating the case, the investigating officer of the case and the inspector of the DB applied to take him on remand for 10 days. Tariqul Islam.
