BNP and Juba Dal leaders of Budhanti Union held a press conference in Bijoyanagar Upazila of Brahmanbaria to highlight their position.
A press conference was held at Budhanti bus stand of the upazila on Wednesday, September 4 at 11 am.
This press conference was held on September 1 in protest against the publication of news on online TV accusing Budhanti Union BNP organizing secretary Md Sohel Mia, Budhanti Union Jubo Dal general secretary Mizanur Rahman, BNP leader Chamak Mia of extortion.
Apart from them, Budhanti Union BNP President Md Mahbubur Alam, Chandura Union BNP Senior Vice President 4-time member Md Arju Mia, Budhanti Union Juba Dal President Md Kamal Ahmed, Organizational Secretary Ujjal Khan and BNP and organizational leaders were also present at the press conference.
Speakers of the press conference said that the first 2/3 of the theft happened when 20/25 boats arrived from different places in Budhanti Balu for Dhaka Sylhet highway road work. Then Paharadar was appointed from Islampur police outpost through local people. 8 to 10 mountaineers were paid a daily salary of 500 taka by collecting a few taka from each boat. It was falsely accused of extortion by some unscrupulous people to tarnish the image of our party.
They also alleged that some local people are working to increase the grouping of the party.
The matter has defamed us by publishing the news on our online TV without any verification. We strongly condemn and protest against it.
When talking to the people including the Paharadars and boatmen present, they said that some money was taken from the boat to pay the Paharadars for the safety of the boat. Which was distributed only among the Pahardars. Apart from this, the police and general public do not come to collect any kind of contribution from us.
