The Upazila administration welcomed the Bengali New Year in Nakla, Sherpur with various arrangements. The arrangements included a New Year’s joy procession, cultural programs on the Upazila Parishad open stage, prize distribution and Baisakhi fair. The cultural program and Baisakhi fair were inaugurated by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Deep Jan Mitra.
The New Year’s joy procession organized by the Upazila administration was attended by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Deep Jan Mitra, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sheikh Taki Tajwar, Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Habibur Rahman, OC Investigation Abul Kashem, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Nazrul Islam, Upazila Engineer Shamsul Haque Rakib, Upazila Fisheries Officer Anik Rahman, Upazila Food Controller Siddiqur Rahman, Upazila Rural Development Officer Habibur Rahman, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Abdur Rashid and officials and employees of various departments of the Upazila administration were present. Starting from the premises of the Upazila Parishad Complex building, the procession circled the main roads of Nakla Municipality.
The principal of the local government Haji Zalmamud College, Professor Md., also participated in the procession. Abdul Barshed, Chowdhury Chabrun Nesa Women’s College Principal Mozammel Haque, Nakla Shahria Fazil Madrasa Principal Maulana Md. Azizul Islam, Dhukuria A-Z Technical and BM College Principal Rezaul Alam, Panchkahaniya Ideal Technical and BM College Principal Sultana Nurunnahar, Nakla Government Pilot High School Assistant Principal Maulana Md. Nazim Uddin, Nakla Pilot Model High School Principal Abdur Rob, heads of various educational institutions and teachers and students of related institutions, teachers and students of Bazardi Ideal Technical and Women’s BM College, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Mohiuddin Moktar, member Abdullah Chowdhury, party leaders and leaders of various social and cultural organizations.
In the afternoon, the local government Haji Zalmamud College organized a traditional Baisakhi meal with papta rice in the teachers’ auditorium and a New Year’s Eve and cultural program was organized in the college grounds. The college’s principal, Professor Md. Abdul Barshed, vice-principal Md. Altab Ali, lecturer Golam Masum, and teachers and students of the college were present at the program.
In addition, a 3-day Baisakhi fair has been organized at the No. 2 Nakla Union Health and Family Welfare Center ground in Jalalpur Poddarbari and Dakatiyakanda (North Nakla) villages of the upazila.
