Md. Milan Howladar (30), an Assistant Agriculture Officer, was killed in a road accident at Bauphal in Patuakhali. Three people were also seriously injured.
The incident took place in Bhuban Sahar Kachari area of Bauphal Sadar Upazila around 7 am on Sunday (December 22).
Deceased Milan Howladar was Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer of Mehendiganj Upazila of Barisal. He is the son of former member Shahabuddin Howladar of Indrakul village of Suryamoni union of Bauphal upazila.
Related sources said that Milon was going to work in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw on Sunday morning. The autorickshaw overturned when it collided head-on with an ambulance coming from the opposite direction at the spot. Milon was seriously injured. When he was quickly taken to Bauphal Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Milan Howladar dead. The injured were sent to Barisal Sher Bangla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
In 2018, Milon joined the first post as Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer. He is survived by his parents, brothers and sisters, including his wife and a 3-year-old daughter. Milan’s untimely death has cast a pall over the area.
Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Hossain confirmed the matter and said that the ambulance and autorickshaw driver fled. Efforts are underway to arrest them.
