Since Comilla’s Barura Upazila Health Complex was launched in 1966, a maximum of 815 patients received outpatient services.
Outpatient pressure has been on the rise since last February. On an average, about 700 patients are treated daily in the outpatient department.
On October 6, 2021, when Dr. Kamrul Hasan Sohel assumed responsibility as Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, the outpatient department was serving an average of 300 patients per day.
Today, March 05, 2023, the number of patients receiving outpatient services is 815. The number of patients is increasing every day, 750 people, 763 people, 780 people, 815 people were the highest number of people receiving services in the external department of Barura Upazila Health Complex in the last two weeks or less. Barura Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Kamrul Hossain Sohail said that I am optimistic that one day 1000 patients will receive care in the outpatient department of Barura Upazila Health Complex.
Due to the return of public confidence in government hospitals, the number of patients is increasing almost every day, I thank all those who are availing our services.
I thank all the members of Team Barura whose cooperation, immense sacrifices and tireless efforts have resulted in 750/800 patients coming for outpatient services daily in the once almost patientless hospital. Every day 45/50 patients are coming to the emergency department for service, 50/55 patients are admitted in the internal department of the 31-bed upazila health complex. Increase in outpatients, emergency departments and inpatients is a reflection of general public’s increasing confidence in the treatment of government hospitals and doctors and overall hospital management.
