The Bi-Annual Conference of Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation Dinajpur District Branch was held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 10 am at Dinajpur Shishu Academy Auditorium. The new committee was announced at the conference and the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee was held.
The chief guest of the conference was Mr. Md. Golam Rabbani, Central Vice President of Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation and Director of Rangpur-Dinajpur Region. He said that he drew the attention of the government to all the army members who were martyred in the BDR rebellion during the previous autocratic Awami League government and those who were martyred in the student movement and demanded that the interim government make a good arrangement for all the martyrs, so that the families of the martyrs can live on rice twice a day. He also requested the government to make arrangements for those who suffered from paralysis, blindness and other injuries in the student movement to live on food with improved medical care. He demanded the strict punishment of the absconding autocratic Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and her ministers, MPs and Awami associates. The Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation said the above by promising all the leaders and activists to stand by the families of the martyrs.
Anisur Rahman, Chief Advisor, Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation Dinajpur District Branch Principal, was present as a special guest. The conference was presided over by Md. Zakirul Islam, President of Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation Dinajpur District North. Md. Anwar Hossain, General Secretary of Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation Dinajpur North District Branch, moderated the event.
At this time (2025-2026), a new 35-member committee was announced, and the oath-taking ceremony was held. Md. Zakirul Islam, the newly elected President of Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation Dinajpur District Branch, and Enamul Haque, General Secretary, and all the elected members of the committee took their responsibilities and said, “Our struggle to establish the rights of workers will continue and the Federation will always work tirelessly to solve the problems of workers.”
The conference paid tribute to the families of the martyrs killed in the anti-discrimination student movement and provided them with financial assistance. Nazmul Islam, Muslim Uddin, and Ramzan Ali delivered welcome speeches at the conference.
Besides, the speakers at the conference, including special guest Moniruzzaman Jewel, highlighted the future direction of the Workers’ Welfare Federation. The members present discussed in detail the activities of the federation and expressed their determination to take more effective steps for the welfare of the workers in the future. All the members and supporters of the Bangladesh Workers’ Welfare Federation of Dinajpur district were present at the event.
