BGME University of Fashion and Technology held its second convocation.
The convocation was held today at the Bangladesh China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal, Dhaka.
On behalf of the Chancellor of the university, Advisor to the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Adilur Rahman Khan, delivered the chief guest speech at the convocation ceremony.
Prominent businessman and Chairman of Yangon Corporation, Mr. Kihak Sung, was present as the convocation speaker.
Speaking as the chief guest at the convocation, Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan said, Bangladesh looks forward to youth and new days. The achievements and efforts of today’s convocation graduates will inspire the common people of the country, who are looking up to you. The graduates present at today’s convocation will surely play an important role in achieving the rights of the working people of Bangladesh.
Paying tribute to the memory of the student population and BUFT student Shaheed Selim Talukder, Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan said,
Bangladesh changed in July. After August 5, it is a new Bangladesh because of the youth. The young society of Bangladesh has shown the way for how a new Bangladesh will be built. Today’s students are the guides of that path. Bangladesh will never go back to its previous place.
The advisor also said, May the 2,731 students who have earned degrees in today’s convocation become the guides of Bangladesh. May they work as vanguards to take Bangladesh forward. May they brighten the face of Bangladesh and lead Bangladesh.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Faruk Hasan, said that the graduates of this university will establish the country’s garment sector as a strong force in the global market through their education, technology and skills.
Congratulating the degree-winning students at the convocation ceremony, Acting Vice-Chancellor of BUFT University, Professor Dr. Engineer Ayub Nabi Khan, delivered the welcome speech.
Members of the University’s Board of Trustees, representatives of government and private universities, deans of various faculties, heads of departments, registrars, teachers, officials and employees, journalists, educationists and eminent persons were also present at the convocation ceremony.
2,731 students were awarded graduation degrees and 328 were awarded postgraduate degrees at the convocation ceremony.
