National Desk: The Bangladesh government has strongly condemned the ongoing massacres and gross human rights violations by the Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. The Foreign Ministry made the condemnation in a statement on Monday (April 7).
The statement called on the United Nations to take immediate and effective measures to implement an unconditional ceasefire in Palestine and to save the lives of civilians and allow humanitarian aid to reach the besieged Gaza.
It said that since the ceasefire violation, many Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military attacks, most of whom are women and children. As a result, humanitarian aid has been cut off from reaching Gaza, which has pushed the residents towards a humanitarian catastrophe. Clearly, Israel has ignored repeated international appeals, but has instead engaged in increasing killings.

The statement further said that Bangladesh strongly condemns the Israeli occupation forces’ indiscriminate airstrikes and bombardments on densely populated civilian areas in Gaza, in an attempt to carry out ethnic cleansing against the unarmed Palestinian population. The Bangladesh government calls on Israel to immediately cease all military operations, exercise maximum restraint and fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law.

The statement said that Bangladesh appeals to the international community, in particular the United Nations, to fulfill its moral and legal responsibilities by implementing an unconditional ceasefire and taking immediate and effective measures to protect the lives of civilians and deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip.

‘The Government of Bangladesh reiterates its strong support for the Palestinian people’s full and legitimate rights, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.’

The statement noted that the Government of Bangladesh reiterates the need to return to the negotiating platform for a lasting peace in the Middle East, which is crucial for regional and global stability. Bangladesh calls on all concerned to commit themselves to the path of diplomacy and dialogue to end the violence and suffering of the Palestinian people.

The statement also noted that Bangladesh calls on the international community to work towards a two-state solution based on international law, UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Palestinian people for peace, dignity and justice.
