Mohammad Sharifuzzaman (Special Correspondent): The Bangladesh Consulate General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates celebrated Independence and National Day on 26 March 2025 with due dignity. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag by the Consul General in the consulate premises in the morning. Then, prayers were offered for the souls of the martyrs of the Great War of Independence and the 24th Uprising and for the welfare of the country and the nation.
As part of the celebration of Independence and National Day, a discussion meeting was organized in the consulate auditorium. Messages sent by His Excellency the President, the Honorable Chief Advisor and the Honorable Foreign Advisor on the occasion of the day were read out in the meeting. After the reading of the messages, a documentary made on the mass uprising of the students in July-August 24th was screened. Leaders of various social and cultural organizations living in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, professionals, business representatives, officials and employees of Janata Bank and the Consulate were present in the discussion. The discussants respectfully remembered the martyrs of 71 and 24. They drew the attention of the current interim government to take more positive steps for the welfare of the expatriates.
In his speech as the chairman, Consul General Md. Rasheduzzaman paid deep respect to all the martyrs and brave freedom fighters of the great war of independence and the students and people who were martyred in the mass uprising of 24. He mentioned the various efforts of the Bangladesh Consulate General, Dubai for the welfare of the expatriates and expressed his determination to further accelerate them. He called upon everyone to work sincerely from their respective positions to build a new Bangladesh and work unitedly for the overall welfare of the country and its people.
