Police have arrested an Awami League leader in a case related to the attack on students during the anti-discrimination movement in Goalanda, Rajbari. He is the former general secretary of Daulatdia Union Awami League.
Goalanda Ghat Police Station OC Md. Rakibul Islam confirmed this information on Thursday (February 20) afternoon.
Arrested – Shafiqur Rashid Titu (48), son of the deceased Omar Ali Mollar of North Daulatdia Omar Ali Mollar Para area of ​​Goalanda Upazila.
According to the case report, on August 4 afternoon, Awami League and its affiliated organizations attacked students of the anti-discrimination student movement with various weapons, including firing bullets. Several leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement were injured during this time.
According to police sources, on December 10, Shariful Islam, son of Md. Shahjahan of Devgram area of ​​Goalanda upazila and a student of Rajbari Technical School and College, filed a case with Goalanda Ghat Police Station accusing 59 people. In addition, 300/400 more people were made anonymous accused.
In this regard, Goalanda Ghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rakibul Islam said that Shafiqur Rashid Titu was arrested in a drive based on secret information. He was sent to Rajbari court in the afternoon.
