The victim’s family has held a press conference to protest against the attempt to seize land in Farizpur village of Mainamati union in Burichang upazila of Comilla and the attempt to kill landowner Khandaker Motabbir Ahmed Joni, and instead filing charges of extortion against him.
On Monday (January 27) night, victim Joni’s mother Farzana Ahmed held a press conference at the Comilla Press Club. Farzana’s transport office officer Yunus, Joni’s aunt Dalia, land buyers Ali Karim and Habibur Rahman and many others were also present at the time.
Joni’s mother Farzana Ahmed said, “Land bandits Abul Kalam and the expatriate Sultan Bahini entered my son’s company and tried to kill my son and manager Rana by beating them.” Later, false news was spread against my son by making allegations of vandalism and assault. Which is very sad and condemnable. In the last 15 years, my son’s institution has been vandalized 3 times. If any allegation of encroachment on even a foot of land is found true against my son, then I will accept any trial according to the law. The manager of our institution is currently undergoing treatment at Comilla Medical College Hospital. The allegation of vandalism made against my son is false and baseless.
Farzana Ahmed also said that a complaint has been filed with Burichang Police Station regarding the attack on our institution. The terrorists attacked the plaintiff again on the way back after filing a complaint at Burichang Police Station. The transport owner, the deceased Nazir Uddin Ahmed and the family of Farzana Ahmed, a local resident, have been in court for a long time over the land of local Habibur Rahman Sardar. Currently, their son Khandaker Mutabbir Ahmed Johnny is running Farzana Transport’s office and internet office in this place.
According to the complaint, on January 16, 2025, Habibur Rahman alias Habu Sardar and his thugs, ignoring the ongoing case in the court, attacked Farzana Transport and Daffodil IT Internet Office in the Farizpur area of ​​​​Mainamati Union of Burichang Upazila of Comilla with muscle power and came to seize the land. At that moment, Khandaker Mutabbir Ahmed Joni, the transport’s autocrat, was present in the office. When Joni was attacked with the intention of killing, the locals gathered at the manager’s shouts and rescued Joni and took him to a safe place. However, the terrorists beat up the manager Nurul Islam Rana and some people present in the office and vandalized the transport and online offices. The manager became the plaintiff and submitted a written complaint to Burichang Police Station against Abul Kalam Sardar, Sultan Ahmed Sardar, Md. Atiq, Md. Kashem, Md. Jewel, Md. Faruk and 20 to 25 other unidentified people from Rampal area.
On his way back from filing a complaint at Burichang Police Station, he was attacked by some motorcycle CNG vehicles in Kharataiya area and beaten up. His leg was broken. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the hospital. Imrul, Mostafa, Billal, Kala Mia and other foreign terrorists were also present in the attack.
Khandaker Mutabbir Ahmed Joni’s family also said that the attackers had planned the attack with the intention of killing him. Because 4 of the accused left the country the day after the incident. They wanted to kill him and escape after securing a plane ticket, but his life was saved when ordinary people in the area came forward.
