After August 5, the word coordinator is now being used at all levels. It has become difficult for the administration itself to understand who is real and who is fake. A former Jubo League leader in Shayestaganj of Chunarughat Upazila of Habiganj, occupied the land of the opponent in the name of coordinator, obstructing government work. The latest incident is the talk of the town in Habiganj district.
It is known that an attempt to attack AC Land occurred during the eviction operation in Shayestaganj Notun Bridge area of ​​Chunarughat Upazila of the district. In this incident, in a joint operation by the police and the army on Wednesday morning, the coordinator Farhad Ibne Rumi, who claimed to be an anti-discrimination student movement, was arrested from the Ubahata area of ​​the upazila.
The arrested Farhad is the son of Didar Hossain of Ubahata area of ​​the upazila, confirmed the newly appointed Superintendent of Police ANM Sajedur Rahman of Habiganj District Police. He said that action has been taken against him.
However, when Habiganj District Deputy Commissioner Dr. Md. Faridur Rahman asked this reporter whether any complaint has been filed by the upazila administration against Jubo League leader Farhad Ibne Rumi, who had been identified as a coordinator for obstructing government work, he sidestepped and said that the OC of the police station can tell.
Police and upazila administration sources said that on Tuesday, Chunarughat Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahbub Alam Mahbub conducted an eviction drive in the Notun Bridge area of ​​the upazila on a court order.
At that time, Farhad, who was identified as a coordinator, misbehaved with the assistant commissioner.
At one point, he tried to attack the assistant commissioner with a stick. When the matter spread on social media, Facebook, it was widely criticized.
In this incident, a joint force team led by Captain Arafi Tajwar Amin of Shahjibazar Army Camp arrested Farhad from his area on Wednesday morning. He was later handed over to Chunarughat Police Station.
Police and locals said that for a long time, Farhad and his people occupied the road and about 20 feet of land of a person in the Khas Khatian of Ubahata Mouza and built shops. In this incident, a person named Babul Mia filed a case against Farhad in the Additional District Magistrate Court of Habiganj on December 6, 2023. The Additional Magistrate Court recently issued an order in favor of Babul Mia in that case. After that order, he stopped the Assistant Commissioner from evicting Farhad’s land.
Babul Mia, the plaintiff in the case, said that Farhad and his people are influential in the area. No one dares to speak against them. They had illegally occupied his land, including the road, for a long time.
When the Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) went there for an eviction drive, Farhad also attacked them.
According to the locals, Farhad has been claiming to be the coordinator of the student movement since August 5, although he has been identifying himself as a member of the Jubo League.
Chunarughat Police Station (OC) Nur Alam said that when the army detained Farhad and handed him over to the police station, he was shown as arrested in a case filed by Babul Mia and sent to court. The report mentions the issue of obstructing government work. However, no complaint has been filed by the Upazila Extension.
