Attack on plaintiff in kidnapping case in Sonaimuri, threats to kill family

The plaintiff in the kidnapping case in Sonaimuri has been seriously injured and threatened to kill the entire family.

According to the complaint source and the complaint source in the case of Suppression of Women Torture Act, it is known that on 28/04/2023 the daughter of the plaintiff (13) studying in the eighth standard was going to school along with Ismail Hossain Anik (26) son of Babul of the same area and his friend Hriday (27) father: Mahfuzur Rahman. With the help of some relatives, they kidnapped her and took her to an unknown place. In this regard, the victim’s mother filed a case in the learned Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal, Noakhali (Case No. 111/2023).

Since the incident, Ismail Hossain Anik is hiding in an unknown place along with the victim. The concerned law enforcement agencies could not rescue the victim even after 8 months of abduction. The family members of Ismail Hossain Anik, the accused in the kidnapping case, and the family members of Hriday have been threatening to kill the plaintiff and his family members in various ways. Because of this, the father of the abducted victim came in front of the house after the Friday prayer last Friday (December 22). Md. Sadhan (30) and Mahfuzur Rahman (40), sons of Lokman Hossain of Ambarnagar village, Mahfuzur Rahman’s wife Anwara Begum and son Md. Hriday (27). People including Noornabi (41), son of deceased Mofiz Uliah and Dil Afroza Begum, wife of Abdul Hannan of the same area attacked Abdul Mannan with sharp weapons and sticks and started beating. Abdul Mannan screamed loudly when his wife (plaintiff in the kidnapping case) came forward and seriously wounded him.

Locals rescued the injured to Sonaimuri Upazila Health
Complex (Bajra Hospital) treated. According to local sources, Abdul Mannan and his wife were victims of this attack due to a case dispute regarding the kidnapping of the victim’s daughter. The family in fear of the attack sought the help of the administration for their safety and the rescue of their kidnapped 13-year-old minor daughter.

In this regard, Sonaimuri police station officer in-charge Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury said that Abdul Mannan has filed a complaint to the police station regarding the incident. Legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
