BNP National Executive Committee member Fakir Mahbub Anam Swapan (Swapan Fakir) has given cash assistance to 12 families of the injured in different upazilas of the district, including martyr Firoz Talukdar Palash, who was shot by the police during the anti-discrimination student movement.
On the instructions of BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman, Tangail District Chhatra Dal leader Mahmudul Hasan Sharif, representative of Swapan Fakir, gave financial assistance to the families of the deceased and injured families of Ghatandi village of Bhuyapur city last Friday (August 23).
After that, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid rushed to inquire about the family of martyr Feroz Talukdar Palash. He also tried to declare Bhuyapur bus stand as an official Palash Chattar and promised to set up a fund called Shaheed Palash.
Meanwhile, on Saturday (August 24) afternoon, monetary assistance was given to other injured in Tangail Sadar, Mirzapur, Delduar and Nagarpur upazilas. The family members of the deceased and injured thanked the donors for the financial assistance. They also demanded speedy trial by bringing those who shot and killed and injured the protesting students under the law.
At this time Tangail District Chhatra Dal convenor Durjoy Hor Shubo, member secretary. Abdul Baten, central coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement Zobair, Moddasser, coordinator of Tangail district anti-discrimination student movement Monirul and other members and activists of district and sub-district students, youth party were present.
It is to be noted that Fakir Mahbub Anam Swapan (Swapan Fakir) went to the house of the injured along with the family of clothing worker Biplab, son of Ikramul Haque Sajid of Bilkukri village of Dhanbari who died under treatment due to gunshot wounds and Abdul Khalek of Kadmatali village who was killed on the spot by the police.
