The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals on their way back to India after TikTok.
The BGB filed a case against them on Sunday. The police handed them over to the court on Monday.
They are Mamun Mia Omainuddin, son of Hanif Mia of Chalban village in Salukabad union of Bishwambharpur upazila. Two Androids, button phones, a motorcycle and cash were seized from them. The BGB handed over the detainees to the police station along with the seized evidence on Sunday night.
On Monday, Lt. Col. AKM Zakaria Qadir, Commander (CO BGB) of the 28th Border Guard Battalion in Sylhet sector, Sunamganj, said that the two Bangladeshi nationals illegally entered a hilly area of ​​Meghalaya state in India without passports and recorded TikTok videos on Sunday.
Later that afternoon, on their way back from India, a BGB patrol team of the battalion’s Chinakandi BOP arrested them from the area adjacent to the Rajapara border. He also said that several still images (photos) and video footage captured in India were found on the detainees’ mobile phones.
Several people from the Rajapara border of Chinakandi in Bishwambharpur upazila said that the two arrested had mainly infiltrated into Meghalaya, India, to make TikTok videos.
Incidentally, a patrol team of the Karaigada camp of the 193 BSF battalion in Shillong, Meghalaya, shot dead Saidul, the son of Joynal Abedin of Gamaitala Khaspara in Bishwambharpur, on Wednesday (December 8).
Since then, security measures have been strengthened in the entire border area of ​​Sylhet sector by forming specialized separate teams in addition to regular patrols of the BGB along the border to prevent illegal infiltration, smuggling and any kind of mischief on either side of the Bangladesh-India border, a responsible source in the BGB Sylhet sector confirmed.
