On Friday, October 20, an open screening of the movie “Mujib: Shaper of a Nation” based on the life of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was held at Comilla’s Barura Upazila Auditorium. To spread the history of Bangabandhu’s life philosophy, politics and struggle among the people of Barura, Comilla (D:) district Awami League Vice President A. Z. M. Under the patronage of Shafiuddin Shamim, this exhibition was organized by the leaders of Barura Upazila Awami League and its affiliates. A ZM Shafiuddin Shamim inaugurated the first exhibition of the film in Barura at 7 pm on Friday. In his opening speech, he said that there were many leaders in undivided Bengal during the pre-independence period, but Bangabandhu was the first to speak out for the right of Bengalis and the formation of a separate nation state. If he was not born, we would not have become independent, no country called Bangladesh would have been born. Therefore, he is the father of the nation, he is Bangabandhu. But it is a matter of great regret that no such good film has been made before about Bangabandhu and the history of Bangladesh’s independence. In this biopic based on the life and work of Bangabandhu, the story of how a great leader brought freedom to a country and nation in five decades by showing a dream of freedom and through a bloody struggle of 9 months has emerged. Also the extraordinary sacrifice of Bangabandhu and his family, the step-by-step development of leadership and the way Bangabandhu became a Himalayan figure are very successfully shown. How Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib gave inspiration to Bangabandhu from behind the scenes has been beautifully presented. Shafiuddin Shamim also said, to spread the great ideals of the father of the nation, we have arranged to show this movie in 2 shows in each of the 15 unions and municipalities of Barura. The movie will be screened in all other unions gradually.
The audience and guests praised the movie. Some elders of the area got emotional when they came to see the exhibition. They said there is no cinema hall in this area, it is difficult to go to Sadar and watch movies at this age, Mr. Shamim showed a movie made on Bangabandhu for free, I liked it very much. A student said that in this film, not only Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, but the new context of the liberation war has emerged. So far I have only read the story of Bangabandhu’s struggling life in books. Now I got to know Bangabandhu anew on the cinema screen. The last scene of the movie made me very emotional. It should be noted that this is the first free open cinema screening in Barura Upazila. People from different professions of the municipality thronged the upazila auditorium to watch the movie with great enthusiasm. Among the dignitaries present to watch the movie were former member of Comilla South District Awami League and former Mayor of Barura Municipality Md. Bahaduruzzaman, Vice Chairman of Barura Upazila Parishad and Vice President of Barura Upazila Awami League Md. Kamal Hossain, Female Vice Chairman of Barura Upazila Parishad and Awami League.
