It has been alleged that there was a petrol bomb explosion in Amtali Upazila Chhatra Dal’s protest march against Awami League’s conspiracy.
Four Chhatra Dal activists were injured in this incident. One of the injured named Bayezid was admitted to Amtali Upazila Health Complex. Amtali Upazila Chhatra Dal convenor Md. Swaib Islam Helal alleged that the Chhatra League leaders and activists did this to thwart the protest march.
Upazila Chhatra League president Abdul Matin Khan has accused us of harassing and falsely accusing Chhatra Dal leaders and activists of creating incidents and putting the blame on us.
The incident happened on Tuesday night around 9:30 in front of Kartik Mandal’s house on the upazila road.
It is reported that against the conspiracy of Awami League, Amtali Upazila Chhatra Dal convenor Soeb Islam Helal and member secretary Md Imran Khan led a protest march with hundreds of leaders and activists from the front of Amtali Government College at around 8:30 on Tuesday night. Upazila Chhatra Dal Convener Swaib Islam Helal claimed that 7-8 masked Chhatra League leaders and activists exploded petrol bombs from the side of the road as soon as the procession arrived in front of Kartik Mandal’s house on the upazila road. At this time panic spread in the area. When Chhatra Dal leaders and activists chased them, they ran away. Chhatra Dal member secretary Imran Khan, Ashraf, Iman and Bayezid were injured. One of them named Bayezid has been admitted to Amtali Upazila Health Complex. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered eight petrol bombs in a bag.
Amtali Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Imran Khan said, we came in front of Kartik Mandal’s house on upazila road with a protest march against the conspiracy of Awami League. At such a moment 7-8 masked terrorists of Chhatra League hurled petrol bombs in the procession. Later, when we chased them, they ran away.
Amtali Upazila Chhatra Dal President Md. Soeb Islam Helal said that the terrorists of the Chhatra League exploded petrol bombs to thwart the procession.
Resident Medical Officer of Amtali Upazila Health Complex Dr. Maniruzzman Khan said, one injured person has been treated and admitted to the hospital.
Officer-in-charge of Amtali police station, Md. Ariful Islam, said that a few petrol bombs packed in bags were recovered from the scene. Legal action is ongoing.
