Reporter: A party has been accused of forcibly occupying land and planting onions in Niva village of Patta union in Pangsha upazila of Rajbari. The accused are Milan Mondal, Liton Mondal and Atiar Rahman Mondal, sons of the deceased Mosharraf Mondal of the same village. The complaint has been filed by Channu Mondal, son of Atiar Mondal of the same village. It is known that in 2013, Channu Mondal purchased 9 percent of the land in Niva mouza of Patta union, S.A. 195, BS Final 253, S.A. 534 and B.S. 964, for 1 anna from the owner of the land, Badar Uddin Mondal. Since the purchase of the land, the Milan Mondal gang has been obstructing the cultivation of the land. On Sunday (January 26), it was seen that onions have been planted in that land. At that time, farmers working in the field said that Channu had planted wheat in this land. Now Milan has planted onions. Channu Mandal’s mother Champa Begum complained about this and said, “They have not allowed my son to go to the land since he bought the land. They have been threatening me at various times. My son had planted onions on this land, but 15-16 days ago, 20-25 people including Milan and his brothers destroyed the wheat planted on the land and planted onions. Despite having the legal papers of our land, we are not able to go to the land. I demand that everyone understands the land so that my son can get it.”
In addition, Shahadat Mandal, son of the late Keyamuddin Mandal of Biljalia village in Patta union, has complained against Milan Gang for buying 9 percent of the land in the Sadar Mandal’s share and still not being able to access the land.
However, Milan Mandal, claiming that these allegations are false, said, “We purchased 27 percent of the land from Nabuyat Mandal, Sadar Mandal and Badar Mandal about 25-30 years ago. But even after a long time, they have not registered the land. We were cultivating this land. At one stage, Badar Mandal secretly sold 9 percent of the land to Channu. In this regard, the locals had previously given a verdict in the arbitration meeting to register the land for us. But they have not registered it even today. Channu’s grandfather Abdul Mandal was the president of that arbitration. We are now cultivating onions on the land. We have not forcibly occupied anyone’s land. They are making false allegations against us. The original owner of the land, Badar Uddin Mandal, said, “We mortgaged the land with Matia Mandal around 2000. Later, when we wanted to return the money and get the land, they said we bought the land, register us. Since we did not sell the land, we did not register it.” They are forcibly cultivating our land. I have sold 9 percent of my own land to Channu Mandal. They are also causing trouble there. Channu had planted wheat in that land but they destroyed it and planted onions. They have already arranged arbitration through the locals, but none of us brothers have signed the arbitration verdict.
