Anwar Sadat Jahangir:
Allegations of 5 lakh taka allocated for the renovation of mosque and graveyard in Mathbari Union of Trishal, Myambasinghe, have been raised against Awami League and Swechchhasebak League leaders for not working on the 5 lakh taka allocated for the renovation of mosque and graveyard under the TR project.
According to sources, 2 lakh 50 thousand taka was given for the filling and renovation project of the graveyard in Alhari Durgapur Madhyapara of Mathbari Union of Trishal Upazila. But the money for this graveyard was collected from the locals and filled with soil. A cunning group has embezzled the money by showing government allocation.
In addition, a grant of 2 lakh 50 thousand taka was given for the renovation of the mosque in Alhari Durgapur Central Jama. There have been allegations of money being spent without doing any work with the granted money.
Tajul Islam, the president of the mosque committee and vice-president of Mathbaria Union Awami League, said that he did not know about the government grant. The imam of the mosque said that on Friday, on Jumma day, local UP member, Swechchhasebak League leader Akram Hossain said that he had received a grant of 50 thousand taka for the road in front of the mosque and that this money would be used to develop the mosque.
Local Muslims said that they themselves did the work on the boundary and gate of the mosque with the help of chadah, and did not receive any government grant.
When asked about this by Mathbari Union Council Chairman Abdul Qaddus Mandal on his mobile, he said that he has given the responsibility to the ailing Project Implementation Officer Mohammad Shahid Ullah.
Trishal Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mohammad Shahid Ullah said that the project has been funded and some money is left over to complete the work.
