All must work in cooperative spirit to establish rule of law: Law Minister

Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque said that all the organs of the state should work on the basis of cooperation and consensus to establish rule of law, justice and democracy. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government has always believed in the independence of the judiciary and is sincere in ensuring professional opportunities and independence of judges.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the International Conference on Judiciary Across the Borders at Bangladesh Supreme Court Auditorium on Saturday afternoon. Bangladesh Supreme Court organized this event.
Anisul Haque said that the national progress of the country is well founded on the principles of justice, democracy and rule of law. The current government is strongly committed to these policies. He said that the government of leader Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to establish the rule of law in the light of the constitution framed by Bangabandhu. As a result, the rule of law has been established in almost all cases. Judges are getting an opportunity to perform their duties independently and honestly.
Referring to the government’s leading role in improving the working environment of the judiciary, Anisul Haque said significant improvements have been made in the workplace facilities, salaries, housing and transportation of the judges. As a result the Judiciary is working efficiently and effectively to ensure justice for citizens.
Mr. Haque also said, based on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Digital Bangladesh, we have now started the journey of building Smart Bangladesh, which will have smart citizens, smart government, smart economy and smart society. Smart Judiciary is essential to ensure justice, democratic rights, socio-economic rights and cultural rights for the people. Significant steps have already been taken to build a smart judiciary. It aims to increase transparency, efficiency and access within the legal system by integrating technology and modernizing the judicial process. This will not only improve the administration of justice but also strengthen public confidence in the judiciary.
Chief Justice of Bangladesh, Obaidul Hasan, Chief Justice of Nepal Bisambhar Prasad Shrestha, Judge of the Appellate Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court, among others spoke at the event. Ashfaqul Islam, High Court of Bhutan Justice Lobzang Rinjin Yarge, Professor of Law Department of Chittagong University. Zakir Hossain and Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association President Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon.
