All measures taken to dispose of sacrificial animal waste at the earliest – Local Government Minister

 Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam said that all city corporations, municipalities, districts and upazilas and union parishads have completed various preparations for animal sacrifice and removal of animal waste as soon as possible. The minister also said that appropriate legal measures will be taken through mobile courts to ensure that animal markets do not sit outside the designated area and do not create any kind of inconvenience in public life. He said this today while presiding over the inter-ministerial meeting to review preparations for Eid-ul-Azha, 2023, preparation of national Eidgah, management of animal markets, animal sacrifice at specific places and speedy removal of waste while answering various questions of media workers at the local government department conference room today. Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam, Barisal City Corporation Mayor Sadiq Abdullah, Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury and Local Government Department Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim were also present. Officials from various government departments also participated in the meeting. The local government minister said that the target has been set to collect the sacrificial animal waste before sunset. However, to involve the public in this regard, awareness committees have been formed under the leadership of ward councilors so that the blood and waste of sacrificial animals are not thrown away. He also said that if people are motivated and aware and cooperate, the removal and collection of sacrificial animal waste becomes easier. Md Tajul Islam also said that proper measures will be taken so that animal markets do not become a source of dengue spread. At this time, the Minister said that initiatives have been taken to install necessary machines to detect fake money in the animal market of Qorbani, and all arrangements will be made for transactions through mobile financial means. In response to a question from reporters on rooftop gardens, the local government minister said that 10% discount on house holding tax will be given in all city corporation areas to encourage rooftop gardens and vegetable cultivation following certain standards.
