Aggravated theft at journalist’s house in Cumilla, GD filed at police station

A gruesome theft occurred at the house of a journalist in Ashrafpur area of ​​Sadar Dakshin Upazila of Comilla on March 11. The thieves stole two smartphones, two laptops, Tk 30,000 in cash and valuables from the house. The victim journalist has filed a general diary (GD) at Sadar Dakshin Police Station in this incident.

Details of the incident
The victim journalist Rezaul Karim Russell, who is the Comilla district correspondent of Dainik Sangram, lives with his family on the second floor of a building in Ashrafpur area. He said that the thieves entered his house through the balcony late on Monday night. Later, they used an iron rod to cleverly open the door and entered the house and escaped with valuables.

Journalist Russell said, “I had two smartphones, two laptops, and 30,000 taka in cash at my house, which the thieves took away. Important documents were stored on my laptop and mobile. I have filed a GD with the police station regarding this theft and request the law enforcement agencies to take immediate action.”

Police response
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar South Police Station Md. Rafiqul Islam said, “The theft is being viewed seriously. The EPZ outpost has already been instructed to take necessary action.”

Police said that an investigation is underway into the incident and efforts are being made to identify the culprits and bring them to justice quickly. Locals have also been advised to be vigilant.
