 In Ukhia of Cox’s Bazar, more than 20 centuries of forest land has been freed from encroachment and afforestation. Yesterday, Wednesday (June 21) at 10 o’clock in the morning, forest officials conducted this operation at Walukia Bit under the jurisdiction of Ukhia Range of the Forest Department. According to the sources of the Forest Department, Ukhia is to protect the forest land from illegal encroachers. Range continues to operate, in continuation of which 0.20 acres of Valukia bit of Ukhia Ratnapalong Mauza was cleared and about 200 Akashmani saplings were planted and signboards were initially put up as public property. Under the orders of Ukhia Range Officer Gazi Shafiul Alam, Walukia Beat Officer Chayed Alam, Dauchari Beat Officer Rakib Hossain Raju, Ukhia Sadar Beat Officer Sajjaduzzaman Sajal, Walla Beat Officer Emdadul Hasan Roni and other staff were present during the forest rescue operation. Valukia Bit official Syed Alam said, initially we have planted about 200 tree saplings after liberating the illegally encroached forest land. If anyone tries to re-encroach on the saplings or land of these trees, appropriate legal action will be taken against the encroachers as per forest laws.
Ukhia Range Officer Gazi Shafiul said that the forests are government property, it is the responsibility of every responsible person of the forest department to protect the state’s resources by conducting operations against forest land and mountain cutting and encroachment. The people of the department are constantly conducting operations to protect the resources of the forest department from our place of responsibility. As a result, we have been able to protect one such government property at Valukia Bit too. Akashmani tree saplings have been planted in that place and afforested. It will henceforth be looked after and monitored by the forest department.
