On the orders of the High Court, a mobile court conducted a raid on an unauthorized brick kiln without a license and environmental clearance in Joypurhat. During this, one brick kiln was demolished. In addition, two kilns, including the demolished kiln, were fined Tk 250,000 separately.
The raid was conducted on Tuesday (March 11) afternoon under the leadership of Executive Magistrate Jahangir Alam of the mobile court.
It is learned that Messrs. SBA Bricks in Pali Adivasipara and Messrs. SAB Bricks in Narayanpara area of ​​​​Joypurhat Sadar Upazila do not have clearances from the Department of Environment and the district administration. On such allegations, Messrs. SBA Bricks brick kiln was demolished and fined Tk 1 lakh and Messrs. SAB Bricks brick kiln was fined Tk 1.5 lakh. At that time, the owners of the brick kiln paid the fine.
Executive Magistrate Jahangir Alam said that the operation was conducted as part of the illegal brick kiln eviction drive as per the High Court’s directives due to the lack of clearance from the Department of Environment and license from the district administration. This operation will continue in the future to protect the environment.
Mohammad Faruk Hossain, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Joypurhat District Office and Krishna Prasad Talapatra, Sub-Officer of the Joypurhat Fire Service, and members of the law enforcement agencies were present at the time.
