A young man named Madhu Chandra (18) has been arrested by the police on the charge of hacking a school student to death due to a dispute over money for the sale of a motorcycle in Aditmari Upazila of Lalmonirhat.
On Thursday (June 6) afternoon, the police recovered the body of schoolboy Farhad Ali (16) from a drain in Barabari Ruhani Nagar of Vadai Union of the upazila.
Madhu Chandra is the son of deceased Subash Chandra of Barabari Ruhaninagar area of Vadai Union.
The deceased schoolboy Farhad is the son of cow trader Shahajan Ali of Shibbari area of the same union. He is a tenth class student of Sarpukur High School.
According to the police, the arrested Madhu lost her father when she was a child and her mother got married elsewhere. Then he grew up in his uncle’s house. He worked in a factory in Narayanganj since he was a teenager.
Sometimes he came home and stole from different places and left again. Madhu bought a motorcycle after returning home a few months ago. He sold that motorcycle to Farhad of Shibbari village. They are upset about the money transaction of that motorcycle. School student Farhad left home on Tuesday evening with a motorcycle and did not return. Farhad’s father filed a general diary (GD) at Aditmari police station after not finding his son.
Based on the source of that GD, the police started searching. Initially, the mobile phone used by Farhad was found near Madhu. At that time he was arrested. According to the information given by Madhur on Thursday afternoon, the police recovered the weapon from his house and Farhad’s sacked body from the nearby drain.
Local Subal Chandra Barman said, Madhu Chandra was quite good when he was young. After going to work in Narayanganj, he became restless.
Aditmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC, Investigation) Rafiqul Islam said, the body has been sent to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Madhu admitted to calling Farhad from home and hacking him to death. However, the motorcycle could not be recovered yet. The GDT in the case of disappearance is being converted into a murder case. Madhu’s arrest will be shown in this case.
