Accused who escaped from police station by breaking window grill arrested, two policemen dismissed for dereliction of duty

The accused Arju Mia (24) who escaped by breaking the window grill of Akhaura police station in Brahmanbaria was arrested by the police. Two policemen have been suspended for negligence in this incident.Akhaura Thana police arrested him from Binauti village of Binauti union of Kasba upazila of the district on Wednesday (July 3) morning. He is the son of Nurul Haque of that area.

Confirming the matter, Inspector (Investigation) of Akhaura police station Shafiqul Islam said that the police had continued the operation to arrest him since he escaped from the police station. Finally, we were able to arrest him early in the morning from the Binouti area of Kosbar. He will be sent to court today.

Earlier, members of the Dharkar police outpost conducted an operation to recover drugs last Monday (July 1) morning. Arju Mia was arrested with 4 kg of ganja during the operation. On the same day, at 11:30 a.m., he was handed over to Akhaura police station from the police outpost with a regular drug case. After being taken to the police station, Arju Mia was kept in a room with the door closed. In this situation, he broke the grill of the window of that room and ran away around two o’clock. This incident caused an uproar. On Tuesday (July 2), the Superintendent of Police temporarily suspended Duty Officer Sub-Inspector (SI) Nizam Uddin and Constable Jotsna Begum who were in charge of the police station on the day of the incident.
