A BNP leader has been accused of severely beating the wife of a Saudi expatriate named Sultana Yasmin (34) in the capital Demra for not receiving the demanded extortion money of 2 lakh taka. The victim in this incident went to file a case against accused Azad Mia (45) on Tuesday (December 10) night and a complaint was filed at Demra Police Station. Later, the woman said that she was not getting any legal assistance from Demra Police Station.

On Tuesday afternoon, the terrorist Azad built a wall in front of the house of expatriate Ismail Ali in Bansherpul Aminbagh area and demanded extortion money of 2 lakh taka from his wife. At that time, accused Azad severely beat the victim Sultana Yasmin and threw her out of the house. Sultana Yasmin said, “About 6 years ago, my husband built a house on 1 katha land in Bansherpul Aminbagh area where we live. Meanwhile, BNP’s Azad had been threatening me and demanding a ransom of 2 lakh taka from me at various times since August 5. When I refused to pay the ransom, Azad beat me severely and dragged me out of the house by pulling my hair on Tuesday afternoon. In this incident, the neighbors rescued me and took me to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment. Later, after informing my husband about the details, I went to Pitralaya on Tuesday night after the treatment and went to Demra Police Station with my father to file a case.

She further said that that night, Demra Police Station (OC) Azad was called to the police station and ordered me not to speak against him. Later, when I tried to file a case, the (OC) did not file a case. Currently, due to the wall that Azad illegally built in our place, we cannot enter the house. I am in extreme insecurity. When I called Azad several times on his mobile phone in this incident, his mobile was found to be switched off. In this regard, Demra Police Station (OC) Md. Nazmul Hossain said, the accused Azad and expatriate Ismail Ali have bought the same plot by dividing it. Azad is building a boundary wall in its place. But the woman’s complaint is that Azad is blocking their road. Commitment: The stamp mentions that the 6-foot road is for traffic.

Regarding this incident, the locals said, the oppression and torture that has been inflicted on a woman is not desirable. Currently, she is not even able to live at home. In a free country, we locals do not want a common person to block the road like this, but even if we speak out against Azad, we will be harassed a lot.
