Abduction Case Accused Shaminur (28) Arrested by RAB in Rangpur; Victim Rescued

On April 9, 2025, at approximately 10:00 AM, the 27-year-old female victim left her father’s house for New Market in Faridpur. As she reached the area in front of the Teachers’ Training College under Kotwali Police Station, Faridpur, accused Md. Shaminur Rahman (28), along with several accomplices, forcibly abducted her.

Following the incident, the victim’s husband filed an abduction case at Kotwali Police Station in Faridpur. Subsequently, the investigating officer of the case sought assistance from the Commanding Officer of RAB-10, Dhaka, to bring the accused to justice. In response, RAB-10 intensified intelligence surveillance to locate and arrest the suspects and rescue the victim.

Acting on a tip-off and with the aid of technological tracking, RAB-10, in collaboration with RAB-13, launched an operation on April 14, 2025, at approximately 8:50 AM in the Palichara Bazar area under Kotwali Police Station in Rangpur district. During the operation, RAB personnel arrested Md. Shaminur Rahman (28), son of Barek Fakir, of Bhazondanga village, Kotwali, Faridpur—who was named in the FIR of Faridpur Kotwali Police Station Case No. 31, dated 13/04/2025, under Sections 7/30 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000 (Amendment 2003). The victim (27) was also rescued based on the accused’s statement.The arrested accused and the rescued victim have been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal proceedings.
