The deceased youth is Shakeel Mia (19), son of Abdur Rauf of Rampur Kukrail village of Balla Union of the upazila.
According to local sources, about 25 friends went to a picnic on Sunday morning from Rampur by boat at Beheratoil Bill in Sakhipur Upazila. After leaving from there in the evening, Shakil suddenly fell from the boat when he reached Khilgati area of Nagbari Union of Kalihati Upazila at around 8 pm. Later, the friends informed the fire service after a lot of searching and their diving team came from Tangail on Monday morning and recovered his body from Aora river in Khilgati area around 9:30 am.
Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defense Assistant Director (Acting) Alauddin said, I got to know the matter yesterday. Later on Monday morning our diving team went and started the rescue operation. The body was recovered around 9:30 am.
In this regard, Kalihati police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Kamrul Farooq said that our police station along with the naval police are there. Legal action will be taken subject to receipt of complaints.
