A child named Sidratul Muntahar died after drowning in Kalaye of Joypurhat

The accident took place at Panchgram of Punt Union of the upazila at 11 am on Sunday (April 30). Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Moinuddin confirmed this. The deceased child is said to be the daughter of Mahmudul Hasan Sumon of Panch village of Punt union of Sidratul Muntahar upazila. According to the police and locals, the father Mahmudul Hasan Sumon started looking for the child Sidratul Muntahar when he came home. At one point, he screamed when he saw the child floating in the Sundargari pond in front of his house. Later, the neighbors took the child to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Kalai Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Faisal Nahid said that his uncle Atiqur Rahman brought the child who fell into the water to the hospital. The child died before being brought to the hospital. Kalai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Moinuddin said that the child’s body was handed over to the family as there was no complaint.
