Environment Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin said that a balanced environment is very important for human and animal health. It is the most dynamic of the three pillars of the ‘One Health’ concept. Without a healthy and balanced environment, it is not possible to enjoy a stable society with ecological services, sustainable economic growth and biological security and prosperity. The Environment Minister said these things in the opening speech at the 11th One Health Bangladesh Conference held on the theme of ‘One Health Approach for Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance and Pandemics’ at Hotel Radisson Blu in the capital on Monday (June 12). The Environment Minister said that the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change as one of the main partners of the ‘One Health’ program in Bangladesh is working together with government and private partners. We are working together to identify the need for natural resource management, forestry, wildlife, biodiversity conservation professionals in support of the country’s ‘One Health’ programme. The Minister hoped that the ‘One Health’ approach would be implemented in the concerned departments, especially the environmental networks, to make our future activities a success. Fisheries and Livestock Minister Sh M Rajaul Karim was present as one of the opening speakers of the conference. Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, Chief Forest Conservator of Bangladesh Forest Department, representatives and professionals of various government, private and international organizations were present on the occasion.
