According to the information given by the disaster and relief wing of the district administration, landslides occurred in some upazilas when the continuous rains started on August 7. At the same time, the lowland areas are flooded with water from the mountain runoff. Especially in Chakaria and Pekua upazilas, almost all the unions went under water. Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong highway and various byways were cut off. According to the district administration, an area of 506.28 square kilometers was inundated in the district due to floods. 3 thousand 180 houses, 12 thousand 239.5 hectares of crop land, 22 culverts, 26 health centers, 12 thousand 623 tube wells and 28 thousand 936 latrines were damaged. Besides, 42 goats, 32 cows, one buffalo, 1 thousand 116 ducks and 1 lakh 36 thousand 910 chickens died in the water. 24.98 kilometers of paved roads, 49.29 kilometers of semi-paved roads and 124.80 kilometers of unpaved roads, 77.5 kilometers of power lines, 48 religious institutions, 9.5 kilometers of embankments and 182 educational institutions were damaged. Besides, ponds, ponds, farms and shrimp enclosures were damaged. 15 incidents of trawler sinking have occurred in floods.
