15,245 expatriates including illegal Bangladeshis arrested in Saudi

About 15,245 people, including Bangladeshis, were arrested in various parts of Saudi Arabia for violating residency, labor laws and border security regulations in one week.
According to the Saudi Ministry of Interior, they were arrested during a joint field operation conducted by various units of the security forces across Saudi Arabia in the week of August 10 to 16.
Those arrested included 8,539 violators of the Residency System (Iqama ), 4,253 violators of the Border Security Act and 2,453 violators of labor laws.
A further 829 people were arrested while trying to cross the border into Saudi Arabia, 53% of whom were Yemenis, 44% Ethiopians and 3% of other nationalities, while 60 violators who tried to cross the border to exit Saudi Arabia were also detained.
Three persons involved in transporting and sheltering violators of residential and work regulations and carrying out clandestine activities have been arrested.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior said that anyone who facilitates the entry of an infiltrator into Saudi Arabia or provides him with transportation or shelter or provides any assistance will face up to 15 years in prison and a maximum fine of 1 million Saudi Riyals.  Besides, his transport and accommodation will be confiscated.
