 There was a theft at the Indian Visa Application Center in Brahmanbaria. The matter came to notice after the opening of the office on the city’s Khayasa-Birasar road on Monday (07 August) morning. After this incident, the police have set up checkposts at 4 places in Brahmanbaria city.

Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aslam Hossain told the Daily Present Times that the group of thieves entered the Indian Visa Application Center through the open door of the balcony by cutting the grill behind it. During this time, they took a CCTV camera DVR, 4 pen drives and 5000 taka in cash. Biometric data of visa applicants was stored in one of these pen drives. The theft came to the attention of the staff after arriving at the visa application center in the morning.

He also said that after 9 am, we were informed about the matter from the visa application center. Sadar police station, CID and PBI started working after getting the information. Police have set up checkposts at Birasar, Ghatura, Bhadughar and Shimrailkandi Sheikh Hasina road in the city after the theft incident. Sabur Ali, the in-charge of the visa application center, filed a case as the plaintiff in this incident. We are trying to solve the mystery of the theft and recover the stolen goods as soon as possible.
