 Trains will run from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar soon. The first trial on the rail line will begin in September. It will be commercially launched next June. This will fulfill another dream of Cox’s Bazar residents. Those concerned believe that Cox’s Bazar tourism industry will go one step further if it starts commercially. 86 percent of the work has already been completed. According to sources related to the project, 86 percent of the single line dual gauge track construction project from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar via Ramu has been completed. This station with five floors will have 17 commercial activities including shopping mall, food corner, lockers, convention hall. Coming to Samudra Darshan, the whole station will have a marine atmosphere at first sight. The first trial run of the train will take place on this railway in September. And commercially, in June next year, the train whistle will sound in Cox’s Bazar. People of this region can travel comfortably in less time and less cost. As a result, the tourism industry of Cox’s Bazar is blowing the breeze of possibilities. The speed of the country’s economy will increase manifold. There will be provision of employment. The government took up the construction project of single line dual gauge track from Dohazari to Ramu to Cox’s Bazar and from Ramu to Gumdum near Myanmar in 2010. The project from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar will be completed by June 2024. The implementation of the project is costing more than 18 thousand crore rupees. In the first phase of this project, 100.831 km single line dual gauge track will be constructed from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar via Ramu. And 86 percent of this part has been completed. In the second phase, a 28.752 km single line dual gauge track will be constructed from Ramu to Gumdum near Myanmar. Later it will connect with the Trans Asian Railway Corridor. This project will play an important role in bringing the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar under the railway network, introducing safe, comfortable, cost-effective and environment-friendly communication system for tourists and local people and in easy and low-cost transportation of fish, salt, rubber raw materials and forest and agricultural products.

Cox’s Bazar Rail Line Project Additional Project Director Abul Kalam Chowdhury said that 86 percent of the project has been completed, some work is left. Hopefully, a trial run will be done from Chittagong i.e. Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar between September 15 and 30. It will take a few months for the train to be launched commercially. Initially two pairs of trains will run. Later the number of trains will be increased. Cox’s Bazar will be the final destination of the trains that come from Dhaka to Chittagong. Besides, a completely new train will be launched. A new coach has been brought from Kuwait. However, the name of the train has not been decided yet. He said that if the train starts, it will take 6 and a half to 7 hours to reach Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka. AC seat rent can be up to 1200 taka. And non-AC can be 700 taka. The stakeholders said that in the construction of the project, provision has been made for smooth movement of elephants and other wild animals. Distance from Dohazari to Cox’s Bazar is 100 km. At present there is a railway line up to Dohazari. For this reason, the railway is going to Cox’s Bazar by crossing Ban-Pahar river from Dohazari via Ramu. The construction of nine stations is almost complete. These include Dohazari, Satkania, Lohagra, Harbang, Chakria, Dulahazra, Islamabad, Ramu and Cox’s Bazar. These stations will have computer based interlock signal system and digital telecommunication system. Construction of 251 culverts along with 39 bridges and underpasses on railway from Dohazari to Chakria and Chakria to Cox’s Bazar has been completed. Already railway track has been laid in 81 km section. Going to this iconic railway station last Saturday, it can be seen that the station is being developed in aesthetic design and construction style. Glass is placed all around. The canopy covers the entire structure. As the upper roof is open, there will be sufficient lighting. No additional lighting should be used during the day in this railway station. As a result, the building will always be at a tolerable temperature. The roof of the station is oyster shaped. The work of installing the fountain is going on in front, where the pearls will be installed. The workers are working on the installation of 6 elevators and 2 moving stairs. You have to go up and down from the second floor to the platform of the station by climbing these huge moving stairs. And arriving passengers will exit from below. There will be shopping facilities inside the station. There will be a hall. Again, tourists can visit the whole city by leaving their bags in a specific locker. There will be 500 such lockers. There will be a hotel and a bathhouse. However, tourists are coming to see this beautiful station before it opens. They say that if the Dohazari-Cox’s Bazar railway line is launched, the speed of the country’s economy will increase. Along with this, the relative pressure will be reduced on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway. The tourism industry of Cox’s Bazar will undergo radical changes. Because then the arrival of tourists will easily increase in Cox’s Bazar. Tourism business will be strong. New local employment will increase.
