Sheikh Kamal was as brave and fearless as Bangabandhu – Commerce Minister

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said, brave freedom fighter martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal was brave and fearless like his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The minister also said that Sheikh Kamal was willing to implement the spirit that Bangabandhu dreamed of building Bangladesh.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the commemoration and discussion meeting of Bangabandhu’s eldest son, sports and cultural organizer, heroic freedom fighter Shaheed Captain Sheikh Kamal, organized by the Ministry of Commerce at TCB Bhawan in the capital today.

Commerce Minister said, Sheikh Kamal was very talented, extremely brave, patriotic and one of the organizers. Despite being the son of a statesman, he had no sense of pride. He had the qualities of taking people very easily. He was comfortable being involved in sports, cultural and political and organizational activities. He had no lust for power.

Referring to himself as a fellow soldier of Sheikh Kamal, Tipu Munshi said, Sheikh Kamal used to manage the entire Dhaka Division Chhatra League. He made him the president of the Chhatra League. As an activist of Chhatra League, he started the struggle for justice against injustice and was always on the path of truth and justice.

Reminiscing about his various times with Sheikh Kamal, the commerce minister also said that he could not meet the father of the nation. Later, when Sheikh Kamal was told, he made him meet Bangabandhu. He also mentioned about taking training in India at the same place during the liberation war.

The minister said that he had a great passion for sports since his childhood. He was enthusiastic about various sports including football, cricket, hockey, basketball since childhood. The Abahani Krirachakra established by him gave birth to a revolution in the sports field of the country. Apart from sports as well as cultural activities, he was a unique organizer with extraordinary leadership abilities and multifaceted talents.

The commerce minister also said that the defeated forces of independence killed Bangabandhu’s family to take revenge. They understood that if any of the family survived, the people of the country would be organized under their leadership. But they could not succeed.

Under the chairmanship of senior secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, chief executive officer of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute. Md Zafar Uddin, Vice Chairman of Export Development Bureau AHM Ahsan, Director General of National Consumer Protection Directorate AHM Shafiquzzaman, Registrar of Joint Venture Companies and Firms Directorate Sheikh Shoibul Alam NDC and Chairman of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh-TCB Brigadier General Md Ariful Hasan spoke at the PSC event. Additional Secretary Maleka Khairunnecha delivered the welcome address.

At that time, the officials and employees of the Ministry of Commerce and the agencies under its jurisdiction were present.

Earlier in the morning, the commerce minister paid tribute to the portrait of the brave freedom fighter Shaheed Sheikh Kamal along with senior secretaries of the ministry at Abahani ground.
