Although an era of terminal construction has passed, the only bus terminal in Patuakhali district is lacking renovation. Passengers have suffered due to dilapidated and potholed roads. Due to the poor condition of the terminal, buses are being parked on the main road, increasing the risk of accidents. The only bus stand for the people of this southern district to travel by road has now become a public nuisance. This terminal was constructed in 2009 for the convenience of bus traffic and general passengers. After the launch of Padma Setu, the pressure of vehicles plying in the district has increased several times than before. Buses come and go from this terminal in 8 upazilas of the district including Kuakata. Tourists traveling from Dhaka to Kuakata come by launch and go to Kuakata by road from this terminal. But due to the lack of renovation, the terminal building and parking are dilapidated, the rainwater has accumulated and the passengers are suffering now. Due to accumulated mud and water, accidents often occur when feet slip. There are no toilets and passenger restrooms at the bus stand. Ordinary passengers are in a state of embarrassment. Patuakhali bus terminal parking bus driver Mo Salim Hossain said that due to the trenches in the terminal, only if it rains a little, water accumulates. Due to lack of sufficient space, most long distance buses are forced to park on the road by the drivers. As a result, the passengers were picked up on the main road at risk. Because of this, there is always a traffic jam on the Dhaka-Kuakata highway. We are desperate now, our appeal to the municipal authorities is to renovate the terminal as soon as possible. Reshma Akhter, a passenger from Galachipa, said that such mismanagement of the only bus terminal in the district is not seen by anyone? How hard people are traveling, it is impossible to travel with wife and children. After arriving at the terminal, take off your shoes and take off your clothes and then leave the terminal. The village road is better than the mud in the whole terminal. Buses are parked in and around Pradhan Road. Patuakhali District Bus Owners Association President Md. Riaz Uddin Mridha said that no renovation has been done till now after the inauguration of the bus stand. After repeated requests to the municipal mayor, no visible action has been taken yet. When asked to Municipal Mayor Mohiuddin Ahmed, he said that currently the bus terminal has become unusable. We will construct a modern bus terminal very soon. However, common people and people of various professions at the bus terminal are blaming the negligence of the municipal mayor.
