Students have blocked the road in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat and held a human chain program to demand safe roads.

Hundreds of students blocked the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway from 10 am to 11:30 am on July 27 (Thursday) and raised slogans demanding safe roads.

It is to be noted that a school student named Akash Hasan died in a collision with a truck on his way to join his motorcycle with his younger brother and maternal grandfather in the Ramniganj Tower area of ​​the upazila on Tuesday (July 25).  And two other passengers Nana and younger brother who were with him were seriously injured.  In this incident, the students of various educational institutions became angry.

The students who participated in the blockade and human chain demanded speed limiters on the highway, presence of traffic police at all times on dangerous roads, speed limit control of vehicles plying on the highway and installation of roundabouts on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway as a dangerous place.

During this time, a long traffic jam was created on the district Lalmonirtohat-Burimari and Barakhata-Jaldhaka roads.  Later, the human chain program ended when Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hakeem Azad assured to take action.
