Kalkini Upazila Jubo League president Md Moniruzzaman has been charged with violating section 144 of the court in Kalkini of Madaripur by seizing the market land of a helpless farmer named Md Kamrul Hasan (55) and trying to build a shop. Tension arose between the two sides in that area. However, with the help of the Thana police, both parties were instructed to maintain order and stop the construction of shops. Meanwhile, the local people have expressed their anger over the occupation of the land of the helpless family.
The incident happened on Tuesday (July 25) morning at Kalkini Municipal Police Station Mor Fish Bazar.
According to the case and victim’s family, Md. Kamrul Hasan, a helpless farmer son of A. Majid Mia of Pangashia village of Kalkini town area, owns 27 percent of the land in Thana Mor fish bazar in BRS 119 Khatian No. 18 in Char Thangamara Mauza No. 83. President of Kalkini Upazila Jubo League occupied some part of that land. Moniruzzaman Howladar started building the shop. Even though it was obstructed several times, the influential man continued to build the house without accepting any obstacles. Having no recourse, Kamrul Hasan filed a case under section 144 in the Madaripur court as a plaintiff. Based on this, the court issued a ban on anyone from occupying that land. But in defiance of the ban of the court, the Jubo League leader is continuing to build a shop on that land. On receiving the information, the Thana police went to the spot and ordered both parties to maintain order and stop the shop construction work.
The victim, Md. Kamrul Hasan, said that upazila Jubo League President Md. Moniruzzaman Howladar. So I am suing him in court.
Hannan Howladar, the elder brother of the victim Kamrul Hasan, said that Monir Howladar has been accused of illegally constructing a building in Kalkini fish market even before due to being a Jubo League leader. He is a land grabber and we want to be freed from his tyranny.
Accused Kalkini Upazila Jubo League President Md. Moniruzzaman Howladar said that Kamrul Hasan has some parts and government land at that market place.
In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalkini Police Station, Md. Nazmul Hasan, said that according to the order of the court, both sides have been instructed to maintain order and stop the construction work of the shop.
